We are a Pan-African initiative dedicated to harnessing the research potential of young intellectuals across the continent. Inspired by the vision of transforming Africa’s scholarly landscape, we provide a platform for young professionals to showcase their research, publish sector-specific journals, and enhance their writing skills.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create platform which allows young professionals on the continent, a medium to co-operate and to showcase their research and writing skills through periodic publications of sector-based journals. The Institute also offers learning opportunities to those desirous learning and enhancing their writing skills.
Our Vision
The Vision of the Institute is to become a leading voice among young scholars in Africa and beyond, leading the course to change the narrative in Africa in all relevant sectors and to be a platform which champions Pan Africanism.
About Us
Rolihlahla Research Institute is an African initiative aimed at harnessing research prowess of young Pan Africans desirous of the pursuit of knowledge, research and scholarly writing.
The Institute gets its name from the Xhosa name Rolihlahla whose direct translation is pulling the branch of a tree. The metaphoric meaning is changing the narrative. The name became popular as the middle name of liberation struggle leader and African icon, Nelson Mandela.
The idea for such a continental institute was birthed in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania at the 4th Annual Conference of the Federation of African Law Students (FALAS) by a group of young intellectuals whose aim is to push for more scholarship among young Africans.

What next for Rolihlahla Institute?
The institute is currently working to publish the maiden Rolihlahla Africa Law Journal (RAfriLJ) which is the first of many sector-based journals the Institute will publish.
